Hunting on the Railroad Tracks - 2014
October 26, 2014
On the last weekend of Rabbit Season we hunted a smaller area around a railroad. We were able to take 11 rabbits and jumped nearly 20 on the day. Many of the rabbits holed up quickly without making a single loop. Also making this hunt difficult was that the rabbits occasionally crossed the railroad tracks making for some difficult scenting conditions. However, the dogs did great! Throughout the day 3 trains went through our hunting area, forcing us to quickly stop the chase and wait out the trains. After 7 hours of running ours dogs ran over 20 miles averaging about 5.5 miles an hour according to our Garmins.
